The Sicsibamba district is located in the Sihuas province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was founded on November 6, 1909. It has an area of ​​82.5 km². The 2017 census counted 1561 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 2118, in 2007 it was 1906. The district administration is located in the 3120  m high village of Umbe with 302 inhabitants (as of 2017). Umbe is 13 km southeast of the provincial capital Sihuas .

Geographical location

The Sicsibamba District is located in the southeast of the Sihuas Province. The rivers Río Chullin and Río Rupac delimit the district in the northwest and in the north.

The Sicsibamba district is bordered to the west by the district of San Juan , on the north by the district Huayllabamba , on the east by the district Parobamba ( province of Pomabamba ) and in the south by the district Pomabamba (also in the province of Pomabamba).
