The Cashapampa district is located in the Sihuas Province in the Ancash region in western Peru . The district was established on January 23, 1964. It has an area of ​​69.6 km². The 2017 census counted 2936 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 3524, in 2007 3061. The district administration is located in the 3425  m high village of Cashapampa with 148 inhabitants (as of 2017). Cashapampa is located 2.5 km west-southwest of the provincial capital Sihuas .

Geographical location

The Cashapampa district is located in the west of the Sihuas Province. The northern foothills of the Cordillera Blanca run along the western district boundary.

The Cashapampa district borders on the Cusca district ( Corongo province ) in the west, the Ragash district in the northwest , the Sihuas district in the northeast and the San Juan district in the south .
