The Cabana district is located in the Pallasca province in the Ancash region in central western Peru . The district was founded on January 2, 1857. It has an area of ​​145 km². At the 2017 census, there were 2609 inhabitants in the district. In 1993 the population was 3006, in 2007 it was 2810. The administrative center is the provincial capital of the same name , Cabana, at an altitude of 3224  m with 1961 inhabitants (as of 2017).

Geographical location

The Cabana district is located in the central south of the Pallasca province. The district is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera . The up to 5000  m high northern foothills of the Cordillera Blanca rise in the east of the district. The Río Llactabamba drains the area west to the Río Tablachaca .

The Cabana District is bordered on the southwest by the district Tauca , in the northwest on the district Bolognesi , in north-central to the district Huandoval , in the northeast on the district Conchucos and the southeast by the districts Cusca , Aco and Corongo (all three in the province of Corongo ).
