The Santa Rosa district is located in the Pallasca Province in the Ancash region of western Peru . The district was founded on December 10, 1917. It has an area of ​​290 km². The 2017 census counted 1135 inhabitants. In 1993 the population was 1357, in 2007 it was 1150. The district administration is located in the 2370  m high village of Santa Rosa with 337 inhabitants (as of 2017). Santa Rosa is 16 km south-southwest of the provincial capital Cabana .

Geographical location

The Santa Rosa district is located in the extreme southwest of the Pallasca province. It is bounded by the Río Tablachaca in the west and Río Santa in the south.

The district of Santa Rosa borders in the south with the district Macate ( province Santa ), in the west with the district Santiago de Chuco ( province Santiago de Chuco ), in the north with the district Tauca , in the northeast with the district Llapo and in the east with the district Bambas ( Corongo Province ).
