Yılmaz Özlem (born June 1, 1972 in Bulgaria ) is a former Turkish soccer player and current soccer coach.
Player career
Özlem began with club football in the youth of Bursa Merinosspor and, with a professional contract, was involved in the professional squad in 1991. Here he came in his first season, the 1991/92 season, to 34 league appearances. For the next season he moved to Inegölspor and played here for two years.
In the summer of 1994, his move to the first division club Gaziantepspor was announced. Here he experienced a mixed season and was given at the end of the season to the second division side Adana Demirspor . With this club he fought for a regular place and then played two seasons for this club.
For the 1997/98 season he moved to the first division club MKE Ankaragücü . Here he quickly established himself as a service provider and kept this role in his eight years with this club. As a result of this long period of activity, fans and clubs consider him one of the most important players in Ankaragücü's history.
In spring 2005 he moved to the second division Manisaspor . With this club he reached the championship of the TFF 1st Lig at the end of the season and thus direct promotion to the Süper Lig . After he played the 2006/07 season for Manisaspor in the Süper Lig, he left the club.
The following years he played in various clubs of the TFF 1st Lig and the TFF 2nd Lig . He ended his active career in the summer of 2011.
Coaching career
After his active career, he decided to become a football coach. His first job was in the spring of 2012 as an assistant coach at Boluspor .
For the 2012/13 season it was announced that he has taken over the post of head coach at the Süper Lig relegated MKE Ankaragücü . After the 11th game day, he announced his retirement. A few days after his resignation, Mustafa Kaplan was introduced as his successor.
On September 21, 2013 he was hired as head coach at the second division side Kahramanmaraşspor . He resigned from his post after the 13th match day.
