Umut Gündoğan (born June 12, 1990 in Brussels ) is a Belgian - Turkish football player .
Career
Gündoğan was born in Brussels as the son of Turkish immigrants and began playing football here as a youth at RSC Anderlecht . In spring 2007 he switched to the youth of the Dutch club MVV Maastricht . Here he caught the eye of the coach Fuat Çapa , who was mainly based in Belgium and the Netherlands .
Çapa himself took over the Turkish first division club Gençlerbirliği Ankara in the summer of 2007 and, as one of his first acts, brought about Gündoğan's move to Gençlerbirliği. After Çapa was fired after five matchdays, Gündoğan lost his sponsor. In the following year and a half he played exclusively for the reserve team. The second half of the 2008/09 season he was loaned to third division club Fethiyespor and completed four games for this team by the end of the season.
In summer 2009 he dissolved his contract after mutual agreement with Gençlerbirliği and left Turkey. For the upcoming season he moved to the Dutch league at RBC Roosendaal , the new place of work of his sponsor Çapa. For Roosendaal he played a season and left the club after Çapa in Turkey had taken over the first division side Kasımpaşa Istanbul .
Gündoğan himself signed on for the season with the Belgian second division club FC Brussels and played here for two years.
For the 2012/13 season his move to the Turkish TFF 1st Lig to Bucaspor was announced.
On January 17, 2014, Gündoğan moved to the Turkish record champions Galatasaray Istanbul for a transfer fee of 1.6 million Turkish Lira . For the second half of the 2014/15 season he was loaned to the second division side Adana Demirspor .
In the last days of the 2015 summer transfer period, he was loaned to the second division club Şanlıurfaspor and to Manisaspor for the second half of the 2016/17 season. In the summer of 2018, Gündoğan moved to Boluspor .
