The Türkiye 2. Futbol Ligi 1967/68 was the fifth season of the second highest Turkish league in professional men's football. It was started on August 20, 1967 with the 1st game day and ended on June 16, 1969 with the 38th and final game day.

In the 1967/68 season, the TFF 1st Lig was divided into two groups, as in the previous season. In contrast to the previous season, the total number of teams has increased from 33 to 40, so the two groups are now made up of 20 teams each. A total of 40 teams played in two groups for promotion to the Süper Lig and against relegation to the then third-class TFF 3rd Lig . The top of the table in both groups rose directly to the higher Süper Lig and the teams in the last three places in the table in both groups in the subordinate third-class 3rd Lig.

Beginning of the season were the remaining from the previous season 29 teams, the three relegated from the Süper Lig İstanbulspor , Izmirspor , Karşıyaka SK and the eight climbers from the then third-rate regional amateur leagues Afyonspor , Orduspor , Usakspor , Balikesirspor , Giresunspor , Sivasspor , Kastamonuspor , Malatyaspor , Taksim SK has been added.

İstanbulspor reached the championship of the group red and thus the direct promotion back to the Süper Lig . In the group white İzmirspor secured the championship and took part in the Süper for the first time. The Turkish Football Association had the champions of the league determined by a playoff between the two first-placed teams. In this encounter İzmirspor met against İstanbulspor and won the championship after a 2-1 win. However, the Turkish Football Association later declared both clubs to be champions of the TFF 1st Lig.

At the end of the season, Petrol Ofisi SK , Altındağspor , Uşakspor and the white group Kasımpaşa Istanbul , Malatyaspor , Taksim SK were relegated from the red group .

The club Petrolspor Kulübü , just Petrolspor, changed its name to Petrol Ofisi Spor Kulübü , Petrol Ofisi SK for short , before the start of the season .

¹The match on the 5th match day on September 17, 1967 between Kayserispor and Sivasspor was rated as a 0-0 defeat for both clubs. During the game there was massive fanfare, as a result of which 43 people were killed and over 300 injured.

Championship encounter

The Turkish Football Association had the champions of the league determined by a playoff between the two first-placed teams. In this encounter İzmirspor faced İstanbulspor and won the championship with a 2-1 victory. However, the Turkish Football Association later declared both clubs to be champions of the TFF 1st Lig.
