Kostas "Koço" Kasapoğlu ( Greek Κώστας Κασάπογλου Kōstas Kasapoglou ; born November 15, 1935 on the island of Büyükada ; † April 5, 2016 in Istanbul ) was a Turkish national football player and coach of Greek descent. He played almost his entire career for İstanbulspor and was involved in some important successes in the club's history. With 329 first division appearances, he is the player with the most Super Lig appearances and with 59 first division goals the most successful goalscorer in the club's history. Because of his very safe penalty shots , he was also known by the nickname penaltı kralı (German: Penalty King ). In 1975 he emigrated to Greece , but later moved some of his residence back to Istanbul.

Career

society

In 1950 Kasapoğlu began playing football on his home island of Büyükada in the Adalarspor club in the amateur league and in 1953 he became a professional footballer at Beyoğluspor . The technical director Cihat Arman found that he was even more qualified and took him on in 1954 in the team . On October 30, 1954 Kasapoğlu played his first official game against Galatasaray Istanbul , and after his transfer to İstanbulspor in 1956 , he played there for another 15 seasons. In the summer of 1972 he left the club after 16 years and took over the Istanbul third division team Taksim SK as player-coach . For the last few years of his career, Kasapoğlu chose the Vefa Istanbul sports club . Because he shot all but one of his penalties right into the goal throughout his life, he received the title Penaltı Kralı ( Turkish for "penalty king " ).

On November 25, 1956, he wore the shirt of the Turkish national football team for the first time in an international match against Czechoslovakia , which ended 1: 1.
