The PTT 1st Lig 2012/13 was the 50th season of the second highest Turkish league in men's football. It began on August 25, 2012 with the 1st matchday and on May 12, 2013, the 34th matchday took place. On May 26, 2013, the 2012/13 season ended with the play-off final between Torku Konyaspor and Manisaspor .

The first half of the season ended on December 23, 2012, while the second half of the season began on January 20, 2003. The game plan was determined by lottery.

The first and second in the table go straight to the higher Süper Lig . The teams in the third to sixth place in the table take part in the play-offs, where the third promoted player is played out by a knockout system . The play-offs will be held in a city that is neutral for all participating teams and will start with the semi-finals. The table third competes against the table sixth and the table fourth against the table fifth. Each knockout round is played by one match. The teams in the last three places in the table are relegated to the TFF 2nd Lig .

At the beginning of the season, the three relegated teams from the first-class Süper Lig Samsunspor , Manisaspor , MKE Ankaragücü and the three newly promoted teams from the third-rate TFF 2. Lig Şanlıurfaspor , 1461 Trabzon and Adana Demirspor were added to the 12 teams remaining from the previous season . With 1461 Trabzon a team had qualified that had not previously played in the TFF 1st Lig.

The Konyaspor association was renamed Torku Konyaspor on July 11, 2012 .

The contracts for the naming rights expired at the end of the 2011/12 season and were not extended with Bank Asya . Instead, it was announced that the Turkish Post Office ( PTT ) had secured the naming rights for the two seasons 2012/13 and 2013/14.

1461 Trabzon ended the 2012/13 season with 3rd place on a play-off place. However, the club was not allowed to participate in the play-off games because they act as the reserve team from the first division Trabzonspor . Adana Demirspor received the right to participate.

• * = Due to fan riots, the game between Şanlıurfaspor and 1461 Trabzon on October 14, 2012 in the 34th minute when the score was 1: 2 by referee Hüseyin Sabancı was abandoned. The Turkish Football Association will announce the decision on how to proceed in the following days. After both sides had given their opinion, the football association decided that Şanlıurfaspor, the home team, was responsible for the rioting and, in addition to a fine, imposed a game ban on some players. In addition, it was decided that two home games of Şanlıurfaspor should be played in another city and without spectators.
