Serhat Güller (born December 18, 1968 in Eskişehir ) is a former Turkish football player and coach.
Player career
society
Güller started with the club ball in the youth of İnegölspor and was involved in the professional squad here in 1986. Here he quickly established himself in the regular formation and also began to be regularly nominated for the Turkish U-21 national team . So much for many teams in the top Turkish league, the Süper Lig . The Istanbul top club Galatasaray was looking for a replacement for the undisputed best left-back of the time Semih Yuvakuran , who could be built up over the next few years as Yuvakuran's successor. So he moved to Galatasaray in the summer of 1989 and made 21 league appearances for his new club in his first season. For the 1990/91 season Mustafa Denizli took over the coaching position of the Red-Yellows and put Güller on the list of players with whom he did not plan after the pre-season camp.
Thereupon Güller left Galatasaray by necessity and moved to the capital of the first division club MKE Ankaragücü . At this club he immediately established himself as a top performer and even managed for a while to be regularly nominated and used in the Turkish national team .
In the summer of 1995 he left Ankaragücü after five years of activity and joined the traditional club from Izmir , at Karşıyaka SK . Here he played for a season and separated from the club after it missed relegation.
In the 1996/97 season he moved to the second division Karabükspor and managed with this club as champions of the TFF 1. Lig direct promotion to the Süper Lig . After a year in the Süper Lig, Güller left Karabükspor.
He then played for one season in a row at Yozgatspor and Hatayspor and ended his playing career in the summer of 2001.
National team
Güller was nominated in 1989 as part of the friendly game for the Turkish U-21 national team and came to his first international match on January 18, 1989 against Italy . In the same year he played four more games for the U-21s and scored one goal.
With the Olympic selection of the Turkish national team, he took part in the Mediterranean Games in 1991 and won the silver medal. During the tournament Güller played in four matches.
Güller was nominated for the first time for the Turkish national team in 1992 in a friendly against the Luxembourg national soccer team , but was only on the bench in this encounter. He made his debut for the national team on May 30, 1992 during a friendly against the German team .
In 1993 he came three more times to missions for the national team as part of the qualification for the football World Cup in 1994 . After the missed qualification for the 1994 World Cup, the national coach Sepp Piontek was replaced by Fatih Terim after his resignation . This new coach immediately made an overhaul in the team and sorted out some players, including Güller.
As a coaching career
Following his playing career, he decided to start a coaching career. He first worked in the position of assistant coach and initially assisted his head coach Hüsnü Özkara at Beypazarı Şekerspor , Kızılcahamamspor , Kayserispor and İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor . At Kızılcahamamspor he supervised the club for a few games on an interim basis after Özkaras left.
During the 2006/07 season he took over his hometown club İnegölspor, which was threatened with relegation, and managed to stay up with this club.
For the 2007/08 season he took the post of head coach at the second division Boluspor and made it with the club in the final of the relegation of the TFF 1. Lig . In the final they lost 2-0 to Eskişehirspor and only missed promotion to the Süper Lig in the last instance. The following seasons he trained in series Mersin İdman Yurdu , Denizlispor and Bandırmaspor .
For the 2012/13 season he took over the second division Boluspor again . With this club, he missed promotion to the Süper Lig five seasons earlier only in the last instance. After a disappointing start to the season, he announced his retirement after the 12th match day.
