Ümit Erol Tok (born October 9, 1951 in Boyabat ) is a Turkish football coach.
Coaching career
After completing school, Tok went to the Turkish Armed Forces and became a colonel here . During his military service, he supervised several military soccer teams as an assistant and head coach, among other things he worked for some time as a trainer for the Turkish national military team.
At the end of his military career, he returned to civilian life and in the summer of 1998/99 was his first job as head coach of the then first division club Çanakkale Dardanelspor . After he had only two points with Dardanelspor after seven matchdays, he left this club and was replaced by Milorad Mitrović .
After a brief period at Ankaraspor , he took over the second division side Elazığspor in the summer of 2001 . With this club he sat down from the start of the season in the upper third of the table. Towards the end of the season they fought head-to-head with leaders Altay Izmir . The season ended surprisingly even on points but with the worse goal difference with Altay in second place in the table. With this achieved runner-up, the first league promotion in the club's history was achieved. For the new season, he also trained the team in the Süper Lig and parted ways after the 22nd matchday.
In the following years he mainly coached teams in the TFF 1st Lig .
After the unexpected death of head coach Arif Peçenek , Tok took over this position at the second division club TKİ Tavşanlı Linyitspor . With the club, which was threatened with relegation, he kept the chance of staying up until the last day of the match. On this last day of the match Linyitspor met their direct relegation competitor Göztepe Izmir away from home . In this game, Tok's team surprisingly defeated Göztepe 1-0 in a gripping game. So they managed to stay in the league on the last match day and caused a big surprise. Tok also looked after the club in the new season. After he could not lead the club out of the relegation region after 15 matchdays, he announced his resignation on November 30, 2013. The team took over his assistant coach Salih Yorulmaz on an interim basis .
