Selahattin Dervent (born January 15, 1967 in Turgutlu , Manisa ) is a Turkish football coach .
Career
Dervent was born in the small town of Turgutlu in the west of Turkey in the Manisa province and was interested in sports, especially football, at an early age. After graduating from high school, he studied educational science with a focus on sport at the Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi in Izmir . He chose football as a major. After graduating in the summer of 1988, he then worked as a scout for the Turgutlu Football School .
In 1991 he took over the position of assistant coach at the then third division Alaşehirspor , a club from the city of Alaşehir from his home province of Manisa . He then worked at Turgutluspor and Ödemiş Belediyespor as an assistant trainer. In the summer of 1993 he took over the youth coaching position at Bergamaspor and rose to assistant coach a year later. In 1996 he started working as a youth coach at Denizlispor . In the following years he worked as an assistant coach at various clubs. In November 2001 he worked for the first time as head coach and looked after the club in his hometown Turgutluspor. After four months, he left this club and took over the then fourth division team Demirçelik Divriğispor .
For the 2004/05 season he moved to the Azerbaijani Premyer Liqası the club PFK Turan Tovuz and looked after them for two seasons.
In 2006 he returned to Turkey and trained again Divriğispor and then Uşakspor . In 2008 he took over PFK Turan Tovuz a second time .
Before the 10th day of the 2012/13 season he was introduced as the new coach of the second division Denizlispor . Here he replaced the recently dismissed Engin İpekoğlu . Four game days before the end of the season, Dervent left the club again because he slipped with Denizlispor into the lower region of the table and thus could not meet the club's expectations.
After another position at PFK Turan Tovuz in 2015, Dervent moved again to Denizlispor for the 2016/17 season. Due to unsuccessfulness, he left the club in October 2016.
