Özcan Bizati (born May 31, 1968 in Çal , Denizli ) is a former Turkish football player and current coach .

Player career

Bizati began playing soccer as a street soccer player and then played for various amateur and school teams. In the early 1990s, he began his professional career with the then third division club Sarayköyspor . He later played for the capital city club Ankara Şekerspor . Here he had to end his professional career at the age of 21 because of a recurring meniscus injury .

Academic career

After the abrupt end of his professional football career, he began to study sports science at the renowned Technical University of the Middle East and specialized in football . During his studies in Ankara he played for a short time with the amateur clubs TMO Spor and Keçiörenspor .

Already at this time he met Ersun Yanal , another of the few Turkish soccer coaches with a university degree in sports science . After completing his studies, he obtained the UEFA Pro License .

Coaching career

Following his studies and his UEFA Pro License, he started working as a youth coach at the capital city club MKE Ankaragücü in summer 2000 and also assisted the professional head coach Ersun Yanal . After two years in this position, he moved with Yanal to local rivals Gençlerbirliği Ankara and worked here for two seasons as a coach in the youth department. After just one year he was promoted to one of Yanal's assistant coaches. After Yanal was promoted to Turkey's national coach in the summer of 2004, Bizati stayed with Gençlerbirliği and assisted Yanal's successor Erdoğan Arıca .

In October 2005 he moved to the first division club Manisaspor and worked here again with Ersun Yanal, who has since been dismissed as national coach and took over Manisaspor.

After a season at Manisaspor he returned to his old club MKE Ankaragücü and worked here as an assistant coach. He assisted the newly hired Australian coach Vlado Bozinovski . After he resigned from his post after five match days, Bizati started working with his predecessor and successor Hikmet Karaman . At the end of the season, Bizati left the club because the new coach Hans-Peter Briegel brought his own assistants.

Briegel left the club after just nine match days and was replaced by the former player legend Ankaragücüs, Hakan Kutlu . Since Kutlu had no coaching license at that time, Bizati was formally hired as head coach and assisted Kutlu as his assistant coach.

For the new season he left Ankaragücü again and worked for the third division Pendikspor for the first time in his career as head coach. Before the end of the season he separated from Pendikspor and took over the position of assistant coach at Ankaragücü again in early April 2009 and worked here again with Hikmet Karaman until the end of the season.

After Bizati started the new season without activity, he took over the first division club Denizlispor with Hakan Kutlu at the end of October 2009 and assisted him as an assistant coach. At the end of the season, the team missed relegation and Kutlu and Bizati then left the club for the first division Manisaspor . After four match days, Kutlu resigned from his position, so that Bizati assisted his successor Hikmet Karaman until the end of the season.

In spring 2012 he worked for the first division team Samsunspor as an assistant coach and assisted his old companion Mesut Bakkal . After missing the relegation at the end of the season, both left the club.

Bizati took over the position of co-trainer at the traditional Turkish club Trabzonspor for the new season and worked here with Şenol Güneş . After Güneş resigned from his post in spring 2013, Bizati also left the club.

In mid-April 2013 he was introduced to the relegation-threatened second division club in his home province Denizli , Denizlispor, as head coach. After only a three-month term in office, the club separated from Bizati because it had publicly criticized the club and transfer policy of the then President Suleyman Urkay .

In December of the same year he was again coach of Denizlispor, since the club had elected a new president in Mehmet Özsoy . Due to unsuccessfulness, Bizati left the club during the winter break of the 2014/15 season and was replaced by Engin İpekoğlu .

For the 2015/16 season he took over the second division team Boluspor and was responsible for it until September 2015.
