Ufuk Ateş (born September 6, 1978 in Izmir ) is a former Turkish football player and coach. He was the top scorer of the TFF 1. Lig in the second division season 2005/06 . Although he played one season in the Süper Lig , Ateş was considered a second division striker throughout his career.
Career
society
Ateş began his professional career with the second division club Yeni Salihlispor in 1995 . As a seventeen-year-old, he quickly made it into the regular eleven and was noticed by several clubs. Finally, he moved a year later to the first division club Çanakkale Dardanelspor . With this club he came to only 13 league appearances in the first season. He then gradually increased the stakes in the following years, without ever being able to conquer a regular place. On September 30, 2000 he was seriously injured in the game against Bakırköyspor and was out almost the entire season. Only towards the end of the season did he come to two short assignments. In the 2001/02 season, Ateş scored eight goals in 30 games and was with Sinan Ertan the most successful goalscorer of his team.
In the summer of 2002, Ateş left Dardanelspor after six years and moved to the first division team Malatyaspor . At this club he could not prevail against the two seeded strikers Fazlı Ulusoy and Sertan Eser and completed 15 competitive games in which he remained goalless. With his team he finished the first division season 2002/03 as fifth and thus reached his best first division placement. After Ateş remained without a game in the first half of the 2003/04 season, he was loaned to the second division Yimpaş Yozgatspor for the second half . By the end of the season he played 15 league games in which he scored eight times.
At the end of the 2003/04 season he finally dissolved his contract with Malatyaspor and moved to the second division side Sivasspor . At this club he established himself as a top performer right away, together with his strike partner Muhammet Kurtuluş he formed a dangerous duo. Sivasspor ended the season as champions and rose to the Süper Lig for the first time in the club's history . Ateş contributed eleven goals to this success, while his strike partner Kurtuluş was Sivasspor's top scorer with 20 goals.
Despite this success, Ateş left Sivasspor in the summer of 2005 and moved to the second division Altay Izmir . With this club he experienced his most successful season personally. With 20 goals he was together with Taner Demirbaş from Sakaryaspor top scorer in the second Turkish division. His club Altay finished the league in third place in the table and thus missed direct promotion to the Süper Lig . Instead, they qualified for the subsequent playoff round. In the playoffs, the club made it to the finals, but lost to Sakaryaspor 1: 4 and thus missed the last chance of promotion.
After the successful season at Altay, Ateş moved to the first division club Konyaspor in the 2006 summer transfer period . After he completed a disappointing first half of the season with this club, he hired during the winter break at the second division Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor . With this club Ateş reached the end of the season the runner-up in the second division season 2006/07 and thus the second first division promotion of his career.
At the end of the 2006/07 season, he broke his contract with Istanbul BB prematurely and moved to the second division Antalyaspor . With this club, too, he finished the season as runner-up and rose to the Süper Lig for the third time in his career .
After the rise, Ateş also separated from Antalyaspor and remained with the change to Orduspor of the TFF 1st Lig . At this club he stayed with three goals in nine games below expectations, which is why he moved to his old club Altay Izmir in the winter of 2008 . At this club he was often out due to injury and only played one competitive game until November 2010. After ongoing injuries, he ended his playing career in November 2010.
National team
Ateş went through almost all Turkish youth national teams from the Turkish U-17 national team to the Turkish U-21 national team.
Coaching career
After the end of his playing career, he coached the U-16 team of Altay Izmir in the 2012/13 season .
