Deivid de Souza (born October 22, 1979 in Nova Iguaçu , Brazil ) is a Brazilian football player and coach .

Career

As a player

He played in his birthplace and at Joinville ES in his youth . After Deivid performed well at Joinville, he moved to the Corinthians Paulista Sports Club in São Paulo .

There Zdeněk Zeman , then coach of US Lecce , noticed him and brought Deivid to Italy . However, he only stayed here for a short time and returned to Brazil the same year and joined FC Santos . After two seasons he moved to SC Corinthians Paulista within the league in 2001 , where he stayed until the end of 2002. He was instrumental in winning the Brazilian Cup in 2002 by scoring 13 goals in cup competition, including three in the cup finals .

After a brief employment at Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte , Deivid returned to Europe in July 2003 when he moved to the French first division club Girondins Bordeaux . He was supposed to replace Pauleta who had migrated at Girondins . After just one season in France, Deivid returned to Brazil again on May 1, 2004, when he was loaned to his former club Santos FC. Things went splendidly there in 48 league games, he scored 26 goals and won the Brazilian championship with FC Santos. After the loan, Deivid was transferred to Lisbon in July 2005 to Sporting CP for a transfer fee of three million euros. After only one year at Sporting Lisbon moved Deivid just before the transfer deadline in the summer of 2006 ultimately for three years in the Süper Lig to the Turkish tradition Club Fenerbahçe SK .

On September 19, 2007 Deivid played his first UEFA Champions League game against Inter Milan and scored his first goal in the Champions League with a spectacular volley in this game, giving his team a 1-0 victory. He was also proud of the team performance, it was a deserved win against the group favorites.

On October 2, 2007 he scored his second goal in the premier class against CSKA Moscow and thus achieved the late equalizer for the 2-2 final score. In the second leg of the Champions League second leg against Sevilla FC , he scored two important goals, with which his club reached the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time after penalty shoot-outs. In the quarter-finals against Chelsea , Deivid scored a goal from 30 meters, which brought his team the victory. In the second leg, however, Fenerbahçe narrowly defeated the Londoners and was eliminated from the competition.

On July 6, 2008, Deivid suffered a broken ankle while training in a duel . After his two-month injury, he was able to complete the first game for Fenerbahçe against Bursaspor on October 25, 2008. He was substituted on in the 75th minute and scored the last goal in the 90th minute to beat Bursaspor 5-2.

In August 2010, Deivid's contract with Fenerbahçe was dissolved by mutual agreement, after which he signed a contract with Flamengo Rio de Janeiro .

With Flamengo he won the 2011 Rio de Janeiro State Championship . In February 2012 he made himself an integral part of Flamengo's legends in the semi-final of the Taça Guanabara against CR Vasco da Gama , when he successfully clamped the ball on the post from two meters in the middle in front of the open goal. Vasco won the game 2-1 and Deivid confirmed his reputation as a chance death. At the beginning of September 2012, in the middle of the current national championship, in which he came only six times, he moved to the Brazilian first division club Coritiba FC after negotiating with Botafogo FR and Arab clubs . On September 8, he made his debut in a 3-0 home league win in front of 12,000 spectators against his former club Flamengo.

As a trainer

In December 2015, Deivid was signed by the Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte as head coach after already working here as an assistant. The employment ended in April 2016.
