Ahmed Apimah Barusso (born December 26, 1984 in Accra ) is a Ghanaian soccer player who has been under contract with AS Roma since July 2007 .

profile

Ghanaian Ahmed Barusso is a ball-oriented midfielder with a powerful shot. Experts recognize many parallels to other great players in his style of play, Barusso's technique, for example, is often compared to that of Marcel Desailly , and his skill level is compared to that of Michael Essien .

The 1.85 meter tall Barusso played for the youth team of FC Nania in his hometown of Accra . The Ghanaian football legend Abédi Pelé discovered him at the time and recommended him to the Italian Francesco Janich , who gave Barusso a contract with the amateur club Manfredonia Calcio .

Club career

Manfredonia Calcio

In his first season in Italy, Ahmed Barusso played with Manfredonia Calcio in Serie D , where he completed 18 games and scored one goal. The team rose and played in Serie C2 the following season . There he confirmed his good performance in 19 games with three goals. Barusso managed to rise again with the club. In the 2005/06 season he finally won the regular place in Serie C1 (24 games, 5 goals). However, after Manfredonia missed promotion to Serie B , it became difficult for the club to keep Barusso. Many Serie B clubs made him offers. He chose Rimini Calcio at the end of the season .

Rimini Calcio

In his first and only season with Rimini Calcio, Ahmed Barusso completed eight games and scored two goals. In the games against Juventus Turin and FC Bologna he was elected man of the game. On October 28, 2006, the ninth matchday against FC Crotone , Barusso broke his leg after a duel and was out for four months. In the second half of the season he drew attention to himself again with a goal from about 30 meters away against FC Bologna. After the season ended, Barusso became associated with many clubs. Arsenal FC , Milan AC , Inter Milan , Roma AS , Florence AC , Galatasaray Istanbul and Beşiktaş Istanbul were interested in signing the Ghanaian. It was also claimed that AC Milan had already secured the transfer rights for Ahmed during the winter break, which later turned out to be wrong. On July 5, 2007 AS Roma announced the commitment of the young Ghanaian. The Römer Klub bought Rimini 50% of the transfer rights for approx. 2 million euros, the remaining rights remained with Rimini Calcio until this so-called co-ownership was dissolved.

AS Roma

Ahmed Barusso played his first game for the capitals on October 7, 2007 against FC Parma . The game decided Rome 3-0 for themselves. Because of the strong competition in the midfield, he hardly appeared in the episode. He was loaned from AS Roma to Galatasaray SK for € 400,000 until the end of the season in order to get match practice. The contract should be signed as soon as Barusso returned from the Africa Cup of 2008 .

Galatasaray Istanbul and return to Italy

On January 30th, 2008, the traditional Turkish club Galatasaray Istanbul announced that they had signed the Ghanaian on loan for six months.

After only two completed league games for Galatasaray Istanbul, the midfielder returned to Italy on loan in the summer of 2008 and joined AC Siena . In August 2009 Barusso was released again on loan, this time to Brescia Calcio . After he was used there regularly, the next club change on loan followed at the end of January 2010. The midfielder was handed over to FC Turin, where he was part of the regular staff until the end of the season and only narrowly missed promotion to Serie A with the Turin team. In the summer of 2010 he returned to AS Roma, but was loaned out again shortly afterwards. He played the 2010/11 season at AS Livorno in Serie B before making a new attempt in Rome in 2011. But in the winter break of 2011/12 he was loaned to Serie B to ASG Nocerina . Here he made one goal in eleven games.

National team

Ahmed Barusso was part of the Ghanaian Olympic team qualifying for the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics . However, he did not take part in the games because he was not appointed to the squad by the new coach Mariano Barreto .

Barusso played his first game for Ghana's senior team on July 6, 2003 against Rwanda . His first goal came after a substitution in the friendly against Morocco on September 8, 2007. At the Africa Cup in 2008 in his own country, Barusso reached the semi-finals with Ghana, in which they lost 1-0 to Cameroon .
