Bionic Woman is an American television series . It was broadcast on NBC in 2007 and ran for the first time in Germany from March 3 to April 21, 2010 on RTL II . Bionic Woman is a remake of the television series The Seven Million Dollar Woman (1976-78) and is based on the novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin .

action

Since the death of her mother, bartender Jaime Sommers has been taking more care of her younger sister Becca. When she is out in the car with her boyfriend Will Anthros, she is almost killed. Severely injured, Will takes her to his secret laboratory and saves her life with the help of bionics . She receives bionic prostheses that make her stronger and faster. Her right arm, both legs, right eye and ear are exchanged. Nanotechnical anthrocytes accelerate their healing. But the new technology also has negative consequences: shortly after her recovery, Will is killed by Sarah Corvus, the first "Bionic Woman". Jaime Sommers works from now on for the secret government organization "Berkut Group", which provided the technology. This organization takes care of counter-terrorism and experiments with the not yet fully developed technology. Jaime Summers distrusts her clients and her boss Jonas Bledsoe, but she has no choice but to work for the organization. She tries to keep her secret identity from her sister. Sarah Corvus, who was almost insane with bionics, longs for a cure, but fights with all means against the Berkut Group and tries to win Jaime as an ally.

Background information

Plans for a remake of the offshoot of The Six Million Dollar Man existed as early as 2002. Sisters Jennifer Todd and Suzanne Todd (producers of Austin Powers and Across the Universe, among others ) first tried to bring the series out on USA Network and Jennifer Aniston to win for the lead role. The project fell asleep, however, until NBC announced the series in 2006. David Eick was hired as the new producer and Laeta Kalogridis ( Birds of Prey ) wrote the script for the first episodes. But since only the rights to the original series The Seven Million Dollar Woman were bought, the rights to the novel Cyborg by Martin Caidin and those of the series The Six Million Dollar Man belonged to other parties, important elements of the original had to be omitted. Only the name of the main character and the "bionic forces" could be taken from the template.

Production was then delayed by a major strike by the Writers Guild of America, East . The twisted eight episodes were broadcast. Although NBC initially announced that it would produce more episodes, the series was discontinued after the first season due to the poor ratings.
