Karen Lucille "Lucy" Hale (born June 14, 1989 in Memphis , Tennessee ) is an American actress and singer . She won the reality show American Juniors . She is best known for her roles as Beca Sommers in Bionic Woman , Rose Baker in Privileged , Sharrie in the horror film Scream 4 and Aria Montgomery in the ABC Family series Pretty Little Liars .
At the beginning of her career she was often called Lucy Kate Hale .
Life and acting career
Hale grew up with an older sister and a stepbrother. She received singing lessons as a child, and from 2003 to 2005 she was a member of the American Juniors musical group, which released several albums. She made her acting debut in an episode of the television series Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide in 2005. After a few more guest appearances in television series, she played a larger role in the science fiction - action series Bionic Woman from 2007. In the comedy One for 4 - Traveling in terms of love (2008), she appeared alongside Alexis Bledel (whose younger sister she played), America Ferrera , Blake Lively and Amber Tamblyn . From 2008 to 2009, Hale played a leading role in the series Privileged , which was canceled after the first season. She also had a few guest appearances in The Wizards of Waverly Place and played the friend of Justin Russo ( David Henrie ). From 2010 to 2017, Hale played the role of Aria Montgomery in the series Pretty Little Liars .
In 2012, she said she used to have an eating disorder.
Music career
Lucy Hale's music has been influenced by Shania Twain , Faith Hill and especially Britney Spears ' Baby One More Time , among others . She sang the theme song for the movie Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song and recorded three more songs for the soundtrack.
In June 2012, she signed a recording deal with Hollywood Records . Her debut single You Sound Good to Me was released on January 7, 2014, and her first album, entitled Road Between , was released on June 3, 2014. The second single from the album Lie a Little Better was released on July 21, 2014.
