action
Seventeen year old Katie is overworked, bullied and taken advantage of. She is constantly harassed by her stepmother Gail and her daughter Bev. She has to do everything for her. But she has a wonderful voice and dreams of becoming a successful singer. One day Katie secretly slips her demo track into a producer's pocket. He calls her stepmother to tell her he likes the music. But then Gail lies and says that the CD is from Bev. Luke, the producer's son who Katie is secretly in love with, also likes the music and falls in love with the wrong person. But Katie doesn't give up and tries to tell him the CD is hers. Bev can't actually sing at all, but she's supposed to perform the song on the talent show. That's why Gail wants to record Katie's vocals and Bev is supposed to sing playback. If Katie does not agree, she will never get the money that she inherited from her late father. But the whole show goes wrong: Gail's son Victor tries to help Katie and turns off the music so Bev cannot continue. Luke notices the cheat and lets Katie sing the song. In the end they both sing together.

Reviews
“It is the third sugar-sweet musical film version of the classic fairy tale. The main actors and, as always, perfectly arranged singing and dance numbers are likely to guarantee success with the target audience. "
