action

Mary's parents are no longer alive, so she lives in Los Angeles in the house of Dominique and her daughters Britt and Bree. She has to toil all day for them. However, her passion is dancing. Joey Parker is a famous teen star and is returning to Beverly Glen High School to graduate. Joey and Mary dance together at the school ball, but masked. Joey falls in love with the mysterious beauty and really wants to know who she is. But Mary has to be home before midnight, because at this time Dominique comes home, who has forbidden her to go to the ball. While she disappears in a hurry, she loses her MP3 player . Joey finds him and from now on looks for the mysterious girl he only knows is a fantastic dance. At the same time, Joey and his record company call a big dance competition, the winner is allowed to dance in his next music video. Mary also applied to a dance academy in Manhattan - Mary sees this as a chance to escape Dominique and the nasty sisters Bree and Britt and to live her dream of dancing. However, Dominique learns of the plan when a woman from the academy calls her and wants to make an appointment for the audition. Dominique lies by pretending that Mary has two broken legs. In the end, Mary wins the dance competition and gets together with Joey. She is also accepted for a scholarship at the dance academy. In the end, Joey and Tami help her to load the boxes into the car as she moves out of Dominique's house. Mary calls out to her, sitting in a wheelchair after an accident at Joey's competition. However, she gets the answer that Mary no longer works for her and she drives away.

Reviews

  • Edward Havens on filmjerk.com said Another Cinderella Story is not a direct successor to A Cinderella Story [..] what the film actually wants to be is a high school musical clone. [..] If you wanted to see a good Cinderella story, there would be plenty of others. This film would only be for those who think my high school musical would be "the best best thing ever" and those who hate it would "totally not understand it and all".
  • Lacey Walker on christiananswers.net found numerous similarities to the plot of Cinderella Story from 2004. She criticized the absurd love story between a very young, underage girl and a 25 year old man. During the filming, Selena Gomez was 15 years old and her partner Drew Seeley was 10 years older - the big age difference was also clearly visible in the film.
