history
The first football club was formed in Crotone in 1910 under the name Società Sportiva Crotona , at that time it took part in the regional championship of the I Division (today roughly corresponds to Serie C). After World War II , US Crotone and Milone Crotone merged and continued to play in Series C together . From 1952/53 AS Crotone played in the IV series , followed by three seasons in the third division. In 1963 they relegated to Serie D, but the following year they were promoted again. In the 1976/77 season, AS Crotone was ranked 3rd, behind AS Bari and Paganese Calcio . In 1978, AS Crotone was relegated to the C2 series due to a league reform . However, one could not assert oneself in the C2 series and was even relegated to the D series . Before the 1986/87 season, the worst problems from which AS Crotone suffered could be alleviated, and the club was renamed from AS Crotone to Crotone Calcio. Already at the end of this season, the chosen course showed its first successes, and one rose again to the C2 series. They stayed here for four seasons, but then there was another crash and the club went bankrupt.
In 1993 the club was re-established as FC Crotone Calcio. As a result, the association launched a meteoric rise in just just seven seasons the club was relegated from the Promozione Calabrese in the Serie B on.
For the season 2016/17 , the club from Calabria who rose to the highest Italian league, Serie A on. The relegation back to Serie B took place after the 2017/18 season . The club from Calabria will return to Serie A for the 2020/21 season.
