Mikael Ishak ( Arabic ميكائيل اسحاق; * March 31, 1993 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish football player of Syrian descent who is under contract with Lech Posen .

Career

In January 2010, Ishak was added to the Assyriska FF first team squad. He was soon able to establish himself in the squad and recommended himself for assignments in the Swedish U-19 national team.

In December 2011, Ishak completed a trial session with Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln and was signed during the winter break of the 2011/12 season. He made his debut in the Bundesliga on January 21, 2012 (18th matchday), when he came on for Martin Lanig in the 85th minute in the 0-1 away defeat against VfL Wolfsburg . After he was mainly used as a substitute, he made on March 18, 2012 (26th matchday) - due to a suspension from Lukas Podolski - in the 1: 4 away defeat against Hannover 96, his first game in which he played through . At the end of the season, which ended with the relegation of 1. FC Köln, Ishak had played eleven Bundesliga games.

In February 2013 Ishak switched to FC St. Gallen on loan until the end of the season in order to gain more match practice. Until mid-March he was regularly on the field for the newly promoted Super League , before he was out for several weeks after a broken jaw in a U-21 international match. At the end of April, he returned to the field as a substitute for the game against FC Zurich , and was again a regular from the following match day.

At the beginning of August 2013, Ishak moved to the Italian Serie A for FC Parma . From there he was loaned directly to FC Crotone . In August 2014 he moved from FC Parma to the Danish first division club Randers FC . In the winter of 2017 he moved to the German second division club 1. FC Nürnberg, for whom he scored their 1000th second division in the game against Eintracht Braunschweig on November 25, 2017. With Nuremberg he rose to the first Bundesliga at the end of the season. There he scored his first Bundesliga goal on September 1, 2018, the second match day of the 2018/19 season, with the equalizer in the 1-1 draw against 1. FSV Mainz 05 .

In July 2020, Ishak moved to the Polish first division club Lech Posen .

In December 2014 national coach Erik Hamrén nominated Ishak as one of nine newcomers to the Swedish national team , which made a tour to the Middle East in January 2015 . Ishak played his first international match on January 15, 2015 in the friendly against Ivory Coast , when he came on for Isaac Thelin in the 82nd minute .

Since Ishak's international appearances so far have only been friendly matches, Ishak could also be used for his country of origin Syria .
