He was regularly used at the beginning of the 2016/17 season , but dropped out of the team in September 2016 and did not play a competitive game for Lech Posen for the rest of the year.

In order to gain match practice, Robert Gumny switched to second division Podbeskidzie Bielsko-Biała on January 6, 2017 on loan for the remainder of the 2016/17 season , where the young player was promoted directly to the regular team. On March 31, 2017 (24th match day), he scored his first professional goal in a 2-1 away win against GKS Katowice . After 14 league appearances in which he scored two goals, he returned to Poznan in the summer of 2017.

After his return, Gumny rose to become a regular at the Kolejorz in the 2017/18 season . He was used in 33 league games and prepared four goals. After the end of the season, he underwent a knee arthroscopy in May 2018 and, as a result, missed all preparation and the start of the 2018/19 season . On November 22, 2019 (16th matchday), he sustained a knee injury in a 3-0 home win against Piast Gliwice , which put him out of action for six months after a successful operation.
