The club was founded in 1907 as Bielitzer Fußball Klub (BFK) and chose black and blue as its club colors. At that time, Bielsko was the capital of the Bielsko-Biala language island . Around 1911 the name was changed to Bielitz-Bialaer Sportverein (BBSV) , although the Galician city of Biala was still independent. With the partition of Cieszyn Silesia in July 1920, Bielsko fell to Poland. In 1921, the club was the second opponent of the Polish national team in an unofficial game . In contrast to the other clubs, the sports clubs of the language island had also accepted Poland as members from the beginning, with whom there was a good understanding. The statutes did not stipulate anything about the national character of the clubs. This circumstance was used under Mayor Przybyla for the planned polonization of the clubs. In 1935, numerous new Polish members suddenly registered to join the Bielsko-Bialaer Sportverein, won the majority, voted out the German board and renamed the club Bielsko-Bialskie Towarzystwo Sportowe (BBTS) , later it changed its name several times. In 2002 he was promoted to the first division . Well-known former footballers were Tomasz Jodłowiec , Adam Kompała , Grzegorz Podstawek , Błażej Radler , Paweł Sibik , Adrian Sikora , Grzegorz Więzik or as coach Krzysztof Pawlak .

In 2011, the team secured on the penultimate game day with a 3-0 home win against the relegated GKP Gorzów Wielkopolski, who had already been withdrawn for financial reasons, the second place in the table behind ŁKS Łódź and thus promotion to the Ekstraklasa . On August 1, 2011, the club made its debut in the Ekstraklasa. The home game in front of 3969 spectators against Jagiellonia Białystok ended in a 2-2 draw. The first Ekstraklasator achieved Róbert Demjan in the 82nd minute. The club finished its first season in the top Polish league in 12th place in the table. In the 2015/16 season , the club was the last to be relegated to the first division.

In 2020 Bielsko-Biała made it to the Ekstraklasa .
