Wigry Suwałki is a Polish football club from Suwałki in the Podlaskie Voivodeship . Since 2014 the club has belonged to the first division , the second highest Polish division.

history

The club Wigry Suwałki was founded in 1947 and initially played in the 2nd East League . The association has other departments such as volleyball , boxing , skiing , archery , table tennis and handball .

The football club is nicknamed Biało-Niebiescy , the white and blue , because of its club colors . The name relic Wigry is borrowed from the lake near the city. The club became known through its greatest success, promotion to the 1st division in 2014 .

There is an intense rivalry between Wigry Suwałki and the Jagiellonia Białystok (from the district capital ) and Sparta Augustów , which are also based in the Podlaskie Voivodeship .
