Jean-Paul Aron (born May 27, 1925 , † August 20, 1988 in Paris ) was a French journalist , writer and philosopher .

Life

Aron, a nephew of the philosopher and sociologist Raymond Aron , was a journalist for the weekly Le Nouvel Observateur after studying philosophy . He later worked as a researcher at the Center national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) before he was director of studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) from 1977 to 1988 .

He has also published novels, a drama and a few books that dealt with social life in France and the moral ideas of the bourgeoisie on sexuality and homosexuality , but also on 19th century Parisian gastronomy .
