Lothar Steiger (born January 27, 1935 in Berlin ) is a German Protestant theologian specializing in systematic and practical theology .

Life

In 1968, Steiger became professor of theology and philosophy at the Wuppertal Church University . From 1973 to 1989 he held the chair for dogmatics at the University of Heidelberg , then until his retirement in 2000 he held the chair for homiletics and pastoral care .

Steiger published u. a. Works on theological hermeneutics , on Sören Kierkegaard , on the narrative theology of the Gospels and on the interpretation of the church year . In teaching and sermon, the “repetition” of traditional experience of faith in the present is his concern, which he realizes in a language that is both poetic, associative and highly reflective .
