Antonio Cabrini (born October 8, 1957 in Casalbuttano ed Uniti ) is a former Italian football player and coach .
Career
Antonio Cabrini was one of the world's best full- backs in the 1980s. He began his career as a 16-year-old with US Cremonese in 1973 and moved to Atalanta Bergamo in 1975 with his first professional contract . A year later he received a contract with Juventus Turin . With the old lady Juve he won numerous Italian championships and cup wins. He won the European championship in 1985 and played in Turin until 1989, before ending his career with FC Bologna until 1991.
With the Italian national team he took part in three soccer world championships and one soccer championship: soccer world championship 1978 in Argentina , soccer championship 1980 in Italy, soccer world championship 1982 in Spain , soccer world championship 1986 in Mexico .
He played his first international game at the 1978 World Cup against Argentina as a left defender in the third round match, which Italy won 1-0. Since then, Cabrini has been a regular player for ten years and was considered one of the greatest discoveries of the 1978 World Cup. His greatest triumph was his participation in the 1982 World Cup final against Germany in Madrid , where he and his team beat the Germans 3-1 and became world champion. Cabrini missed a penalty in the final in the middle of the first half when the score was 0-0.
Since June 2012 he coached the Italian national soccer team for women . After the Italians failed in the group stage at the 2017 European Championships , he ended his work as national coach of the women's team.
In 2009, Cabrini joined the political movement Italia dei Valori , a social liberal party from the anti-corruption movement, which is part of the political center-left spectrum.
