Sabri Sarıoğlu (born July 26, 1984 in Çarşamba ) is a former Turkish football player . Through his many years of work for Galatasaray Istanbul and as a home grown man, he is strongly associated with this club. On fan and club pages he is seen as one of the most important players in club history.
Career
society
Sabri Sarıoğlu began his career with Galatasaray in the 2001/02 season . The highlight of his career included his two goals against Kayserispor on matchday 34 of the 2005/06 Süper Lig , which brought his club the championship. Up to this point the Turkish championship was not certain. Galatasaray Istanbul and Fenerbahçe Istanbul were tied at the top of the table, but Fenerbahce had the better goal difference. With the draw between Fenerbahce and Denizlispor , Galatasaray's victory on the final matchday was rewarded with the championship title.
After the 2016/17 season it was announced that the contract with Sabri would not be renewed. Sabri left Galatasaray after 14 years of playing. In mid-July 2017 he moved to Göztepe Izmir .
National team
Sabri has been part of the squad of young Turkish national teams since 1999. With the U-16 selection, he took part in the U-16 European Championship in England in 2001, in which the team failed in the quarter-finals to Croatia.
Sabri Sarıoğlu made his A international debut for Turkey on October 7, 2006 against Hungary . He took part with the national team at the 2008 European Football Championship . In the semifinals he prepared the goal for the interim 2: 2 against Germany .
