Michael "Micki" DuPont (born April 15, 1980 in Calgary , Alberta ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who is used on the position of the offensive defender . He was active for seven years in the highest ice hockey league in Switzerland , the NLA , for the EHC Kloten and EV Zug , and seven years in the DEL for the Eisbären Berlin . Career

DuPont began his career in 1996 in the Canadian Junior Western Hockey League with the Kamloops Blazers , for which he was active until the end of the 1999/00 season. During the NHL Entry Draft 2000 , those in charge of the Calgary Flames secured the transfer rights to the right-handed shooter when they selected him in the ninth round in a total of 270th position. In the summer of 2000 he finally moved to the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Flames, who used him mainly in their farm team , the Saint John Flames , in the American Hockey League (AHL). In two seasons he came to 18 NHL games there. The Flames eventually exchanged him with the Pittsburgh Penguins , but DuPont was only active there for their AHL farm team Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins .

There followed three seasons in the German Ice Hockey League with the Eisbären Berlin , with whom he celebrated the German championship in 2005 and 2006 . In 2006 DuPont signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins and left the Eisbären Berlin. At the Pittsburgh Penguins he could not prevail again and was only used three times. Most of the season he completed with the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in the AHL. In the 2007/08 season he played two games for the St. Louis Blues . With the Peoria Rivermen , DuPont completed 66 games. For the 2008/09 season DuPont moved to Switzerland and played for EV Zug . In November 2009 it was announced that DuPont would be joining Kloten Flyers for three years for the 2010/11 season. In 2012 he extended his contract until 2016, but before the 2015/16 season he switched back to the Eisbären Berlin in the German Ice Hockey League, where he signed a one-year contract. After the 2018/19 season he did not receive a new contract offer with the capital city team. At this time, DuPont was the most successful goalscorer in the position of defender for the Eisbären Berlin (together with Deron Quint ) with a total of 74 goals (264 points ).
