Dietmar Schmidt (table tennis player)

Dietmar Schmidt (* around 1939) is a German national table tennis player who was active as a competitive athlete in the 1950s.

Career

Dietmar Schmidt comes from Deggendorf . In 1953 he joined the TTC Straubing association. Two years later he became European champion with the German boys' team together with Dieter Köhler , Roland Süßmann and Horst Terbeck . At the German championship in 1956 he reached the semi-finals in the individual, where he failed to Bernhard Vossebein . In 1957 he was third in doubles with Josef Seiz . In April 1956 he was nominated for the international match against Belgium in Lüneburg. With two wins - against Georges Roland and Guy Delabarre - he contributed to the 5-0 success of the German team. In July 1956 Dietmar Schmidt was ranked eighth in the German ranking.

In 1957 Dietmar Schmidt moved to the TSV Milbertshofen club , with whom he was German team champion in the 1957/58 season. In the 1961/62 season he played for TV Haßfurt, then for the Würzburger Kickers .
