Josef Seiz
Josef "Sepp" Seiz (born April 26, 1934 in Altenkunstadt ; † November 10, 2010 ) was a German table tennis player . In the 1950s and the beginning of the 1960s he was three times German champion in doubles.
Life
At the age of 14, Sepp Seiz joined the FC Altenkunstadt club. In 1954 he was the first German champion in doubles. In October of the same year he played his first international match. In Baden-Baden he won his two games against Switzerland. As a result, he played a total of 28 international matches for Germany, u. a. at 4 world championships and 3 European championships.
He made positive headlines in 1960 at the international championships in Berlin: He caught up with the Yugoslav Vilim Harangozo , 12:20 behind , and won the game. The Bild newspaper called him "Man of the Day" for this achievement .
Josef Seiz worked in a shoe factory. He married Lieselotte Köller in August 1958, with whom he had two sons and a daughter. She died before him, so that he was a widower until the end of his life.
