HSG Mülheim-Kärlich / Bassenheim

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The handball game community Mülheim-Kärlich / Bassenheim was a German handball team from the Rhineland-Palatinate city of Mülheim-Kärlich and the Rhineland-Palatinate municipality of Bassenheim , which became known nationwide through its 3 professional years in the 2nd Bundesliga handball league, some regional league years and through its good youth work, with which she won or contested many Rhineland championships as well as some southern German championships.

history

The HSG Mülheim-Kärlich was founded in 1980. The parent clubs were TV 05 Mülheim and TV Kärlich . In 1991 TV Bassenheim was added as the third parent club .

After the championship in the 1997/98 season , the greatest success came: promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga South . However, the HSG was only able to hold the second highest division for 3 years. The HSG Mülheim-Kärlich-Bassenheim GmbH was founded in 1998 for gaming operations.

In the 2000/01 season , the chapter on professional handball was concluded with the sporting descent into the Regionalliga Südwest. The HSG first had to consolidate its finances and the environment. A new philosophy, which still had the long-term goal of returning to the second division, was conceived. This philosophy was valid until the end of the HSG and intended to intensify the youth work and to establish a powerful team consisting of players from the region.

Most recently, the HSG consisted of six men's teams, two women's teams and 22 youth teams with a total of 300 young handball players, making it the largest handball community in the Rhineland handball association. In addition, it was also the most successful. No club produced more selection players. At times, for example, the Rhineland selection consisted almost exclusively of players from Mülheim, Kärlich and Bassenheim.

In the last season of the HSG, she played in the Regionalliga Südwest ( Handball Regionalliga 2008/09 ).

In May 2009, the syndicate was dissolved after it had been declared bankrupt. In the handball sector, games fell back to the parent clubs: TV Bassenheim, which has been playing in the Verbandsliga Ost since the 2009/10 season, and TV 05 Mülheim, which played in the Rhineland League in the 2010/11 season and was promoted through the championship reached into the Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz / Saarland. TV Kärlich does not currently have a handball department.

scandal

The former head of the handball game community Mülheim-Kärlich / Bassenheim is said to have paid players illegal salaries for years: The tax office and the social security agencies suffered damage totaling 314,000 euros.

According to the indictment, the covert payments flowed to 25 players between 2001 and 2006. The black money system is said to have been installed after the insolvency of HSG GmbH and relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga to the regional league. The HSG top had tried to enable the first team to play properly and to prevent regular players from changing clubs. That's why she increased salaries depending on performance. But she could not pay the associated wage taxes and social security contributions.

In order not to have to pay the money, the club is said to have topped up the players' salaries with expense allowances that are exempt from income tax and social security.

The public prosecutor's office even assumes that such a system was established before HSG GmbH went bankrupt, which the ex-managing director had his lawyer deny: “If there was a hidden wage system, it did not come about as planned, but from the Hardship born. He wanted to save the HSG from collapse after relegation from the 2nd Bundesliga. ”But allegations that relate to the period before 2001 are statute-barred. The sums that the players received ranged from 800 euros to 48,000 euros. Reasons for expense allowances were: travel expenses, point and victory bonuses and trainer lump sums. Cars were also made available for private use.

The man, who was HSG managing director for five years, admitted: He had “no clue about financial matters. I was naive and hoped: somehow everything will work out. ”The handball sport on TV Bassenheim is his life. As a player, as a coach and as a person in charge, he “never received a cent” for his commitment.

The three treasurers of the member associations (TV Mülheim, TV Kärlich, TV Bassenheim) of the HSG, which was dissolved in May, testified as witnesses. They stated that they did not notice any financial irregularities in the HSG's Finance Committee. But the defendants' defense lawyers accused them of not having noticed because they did not want to notice. They are also responsible for the damage: "... because the finance committee was responsible for handling tax and financial matters. And because, unlike the defendants, the treasurers have a great deal of knowledge in the field of finance. "
