Handball Regional League West 1997/98

The 1997/1998 season of the men 's regional handball league was the 28th in its history. A total of 27 teams in a north and a south relay played for the West German championship. The four best-placed teams of their squadron played for the title of West German champion in 1998 after 24 and 26 match days respectively. This was achieved by HSG Mülheim-Kärlich / Bassenheim .

Four teams had to be relegated to the top leagues: TV Schwitten (Westphalia), HSV Rheydt (Middle Rhine), Spvgg Andernach (Lower Rhine) and HSG Biewer-Pfalzel / Trier (Rhineland-Palatinate).

The TuS Spenge joins with the TV Lenzinghausen for HSG Spenge-Lenzinghausen together.
