Handball Regional League West 1988/89
The 1988/1989 season of the men's handball regional league west was the 19th in its history. A total of 24 teams in a north and a south relay played for the West German championship. The two best-placed teams of their squadron played for the title of West German champions in 1989 after 22 match days. This was achieved by VfL Eintracht Hagen .
Olympia Longerich merged with Brühler TV to form ESV Olympia / Brühler TV .
Four teams had to be relegated to the upper leagues: SC Bayer 05 Uerdingen (Lower Rhine), HC TuRa Bergkamen (Westphalia), TV Bassenheim (Rhineland-Palatinate) and TSC Euskirchen (Middle Rhine).
