Handball Regional League West 2001/02

The 2001/2002 season of handball Regional League West of the men was the 31st in its history. 16 teams played for the West German championship. The leader of the table after the 30th matchday was automatically West German champions 2002. TSV Bayer Dormagen achieved this with a flawless record of 60: 0 points after last year's forced relegation from the 1st Bundesliga due to insolvency .

Soester TV switched from the Regionalliga Nord to the western season. Lenneper TG merged with TV Hasten to form HG LTG / HTV Remscheid.

Two teams, SG MTVD Cologne (Middle Rhine) and TV Jahn Wahn (Middle Rhine), had to relegate to the top leagues . Furthermore, the Longericher SC withdrew his team.
