The MTV Rheinwacht Dinslaken is a sports club from the North Rhine-Westphalian city of Dinslaken . It was created in its current form in 1974 from the merger of MTV Dinslaken with SV Rheinwacht Eppinghoven. The oldest predecessor association was founded in 1897. The association offers badminton , gymnastics , handball , jogging , roller-skating , Tae Bo , Taekwondo , dancing , tennis , table tennis , gymnastics , volleyball and walking in nine departments .
Handball
The MTV is known nationwide for its handball department. The men's team of MTV played a total of seven seasons in the Oberliga Niederrhein between 1957 and 1966, when this was still the top division in field handball. In 1959 and 1962, the MTV took part in the upper league fourth in the West German championship. The SV Rheinwacht Eppinghoven made it into the league in 1973 when it was only third class. The MTV Dinslaken played parallel a league higher in the Regionalliga West. The following year both clubs merged.
In indoor handball, MTV played for five years from 1971 in the Regionalliga West, which was the second highest division at the time. The merged MTV Rheinwacht rose in 1976 to the Oberliga Niederrhein, which he then belonged to until 1994 before relegating to the Association League. After several years in the "elevator" between the upper and association leagues, MTV Rheinwacht succeeded in the 2000/01 season as a climber to march through the upper league to the now third-class Regionalliga West , in which it was able to hold out for three years. After another guest appearance in the regional league in the 2005/06 season, the club commuted again between the Oberliga and Verbandsliga. Currently (2017/18 season) the club is represented in the now five-class Oberliga Niederrhein. In the 2000/01 , 2001/02 , 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons , MTV Rheinwacht took part in the main round of the DHB Cup , the greatest success being reaching the second round in the 2003/04 season with a 35: 30 victory over VfL Eintracht Hagen was.
