history

The parent clubs

TuS Jöllenbeck

Club coat of arms of TuS Jöllenbeck

The TuS Jöllenbeck was on 15 November 1945 as a joint successor of the company founded in 1897 sports club unity Jöllenbeck , the gymnastics club Eichenkranz Jöllenbeck and was founded in 1930 Association for lawn games Jöllenbeck founded. The handball roots lie with TV Unity, which founded a corresponding department in 1924. Four years later, the TV Eichenkranz followed suit before it was banned by the National Socialists in 1933 . VfR Jöllenbeck, on the other hand, was a pure football club .

The most successful parent club was the TV Unity, which rose to the top Gauliga Westfalen in 1938 after a 15: 9 victory in the playoff against TV Weidenau . A year later, the Jöllenbeck relay winners and lost the final of the Westphalia Championship against PSV Recklinghausen 6: 9. The field handball team of TuS Jöllenbeck rose in 1971 to the Oberliga Westfalen and two years later made the leap into the Regionalliga West. In 1975 the divisions in field handball were dissolved when the Jöllenbeck were bottom of the table.

Also in 1973 the team in the hall made it to the Oberliga Westfalen for the first time, but rose again after two years and had to leave the association league in 1982. After being promoted again, he was promoted to the Oberliga Westfalen in 1993 after winning a playoff over FC Schalke 04 . As a third in 1996/97 achieved the TuS at the green table , the rise in the regional league after the Pulheimer SC withdrew his team from the regional league.

The A-Juniors became Westphalian champions in 1964 and 1993. With Hartmut Kania the TuS Jöllenbeck produced a later national player and with Ralf Bruelheide a Bundesliga player. Conversely, Heiko Bonath, a former GDR national player, later played for TuS Jöllenbeck. Joachim Tobias completed an international match for the youth national team in October 1975.

SC Bielefeld 04/26

Family tree of TuS 97 Bielefeld-Jöllenbeck

The SC Bielefeld 04/26 , popularly simply called SCB , was created in 1972 through the merger of the TuS 04 Sudbrack and Grün-Weiß Bielefeld clubs . The roots of the handball department, however, can be found in the workers' gymnastics club Frisch Auf Sudbrack , who joined the SV Grün-Weiß after being banned by the National Socialists and played in the Gauliga. After the Second World War, TuS 04 Sudbrack was founded as the successor to Frisch Auf and in the 1960s and 1970s stormed up from the district to the association league within ten years. In 1994 the SCB handball players were promoted to the third-class Regionalliga West and just barely missed the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga in the seasons 1994/95 and 1995/96 as fifth in the northern season . In the 1996/97 season , however, the Bielefeld were only penultimate and were relegated from the Regionalliga.

After the merger (1997 to 2004)

In the first season after the merger, the TuS 97 reached the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga as third in the northern group. The team reached the final via the DJK Unitas Haan and HC 93 Bad Salzuflen stations , where the Jöllenbecker lost to HSG Mülheim-Kärlich / Bassenheim with one goal each in the first and second leg. A year later , the TuS 97 failed in the semifinals at the Ahlener SG , before the quarter-finals against TuS Niederpleis in the 1999/2000 season . At the same time, the Jöllenbecker qualified for the first time for the DHB Cup, where the team lost to the second division SG VfL / BHW Hameln in the first round .

For the 2000/01 season , the Jöllenbecker were transferred to the Regionalliga Nord, where the teams only occupied midfield positions. In the DHB-Pokal 2000/01 the TuS 97 was defeated in the first round to the second list 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch . A year later , the Bielefeld defeated 1. VfL Potsdam in the first round and failed the Bundesliga club TBV Lemgo in round two . In summer 2002 the TuS 97 merged with the second division club TSG Bielefeld to form HSG 02 Bielefeld . The merger was unsuccessful. The HSG rose in the 2002/03 season from bottom of the table and could only with difficulty secure relegation in the following 2003/04 regional league season . Due to internal quarrels, TuS 97 left the HSG and had to start over in the association league.

New beginning (since 2004)

After a runner-up behind HC TuRa Bergkamen , TuS 97 achieved promotion to the Oberliga Westfalen in 2006 with 51: 1 points. There the team immediately became runner-up behind the HSG Handball Lemgo II . Third places followed in 2008, 2009 and 2011. Each time, however, they were far behind the respective champions. In between, TuS 97 took part in the DHB Cup in the 2008/09 season . After victories over TSV Ellerbek and HSG Hohn / Elsdorf , the team moved into the third round and met Bundesliga club VfL Gummersbach there . The Gummersbach won the game with 34:21.

In the 2012/13 season, the Jöllenbecker team were runner-up again under coach Walter Schubert , this time behind SG Schalksmühle-Halver . In the meantime, Jörg-Uwe Lütt, a former German national player , was guarding the Jöllenbeck goal. After a scorched 2015/16 season, the Jöllenbecker relegated to the association league. On the last day of the match, TuS 97 gave Sportfreunde Loxten from Versmold a five-goal lead and finally lost with 31:32. The competitor HSG Gevelsberg / Silschede won his game against the second team of TuS Ferndorf and drew level with the Jöllenbeckern on points. Since Jöllenbeck lost the direct comparison against Gevelsberg / Silschede, TuS 97 had to relegate.

But already in the following season 2016/17 the Jöllenbecker managed to get promoted again, but then always fought to stay in the league. The 2019/20 season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic . Since the descent was suspended, the TuS 97, which was in penultimate place, remained in the top division. On June 30, 2020, SC Bielefeld 04/26 left the club after only eight members of the SCB were actively playing in TuS 97 handball.
