The handball community Hohn / Elsdorf was a game community from the towns of Hohn and Elsdorf-Westermühlen in the Schleswig-Holstein district of Rendsburg-Eckernförde , which existed until 2014 . She gained national fame, especially through her first men's team, which took part in the DHB Cup several times and played in the regional league .

The syndicate was founded in 1991 by Hohner SV and Elsdorfer SV in order to be able to set up complete teams in the youth sector. Even before 1991, the men's teams of both clubs played in the highest national league classes for several years, the field handball players of Hohner SV twice achieved promotion to the field handball Bundesliga at the end of the 1960s .

After the HSG was founded, the men initially played in the fifth-class district league, from which they had to relegate several times until 2002. In 2005 the HSG became champions of the District League East for the second time after 1997 and then prevailed in the promotion games to the Oberliga against TuS Lübeck 93 , HSG Marne / Brunsbüttel and SG Husum-Schobüll with 12: 0 points. Just two years later, the Rendsburg team won the championship in the Schleswig-Holstein Oberliga and was promoted to the third-class Regionalliga Nordost, where they held out for two years.

After relegation to the upper league, HSG Hohn / Elsdorf succeeded in qualifying as runner-up for the newly founded handball upper league Hamburg - Schleswig-Holstein , to which it belonged until the HSG was dissolved in 2013/14. In 2012/13, the women's team also reached the championship in the Landesliga Mitte and rose to the Schleswig-Holstein League for the first time.

The HSG qualified for the DHB Cup in 2005 , 2006 , 2007 , 2008 , 2009 , 2010 and 2012 . Only in 2008 did she get past the first round with a 36:33 win against the Lower Saxon upper division MTV Vorsfelde . For the 2014/15 season, the two parent clubs together with TSV Möwe Hamdorf and TSV Breiholz ​​formed the HSG Eider Harde .
