from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wolfgang Hagenacker (born February 2, 1942 ) is a former German soccer player who came to the Oberliga West for Meidericher SV and was part of the team that qualified for the newly founded Bundesliga at the end of the 1962/63 season .

Career

At the beginning of the 1960s, Hagenacker was part of the Meidericher SV amateur team , which competed in the fourth-class national league in the 1962/63 season. The first team of the MSV played in the upper league, which was the top division before the introduction of the Bundesliga. Because there were already numerous injured players in the early phase of the season, when it came to qualifying for the Bundesliga, which was introduced in 1963, Hagenacker and his teammate Horst Gecks temporarily moved up to the Oberligaelf. On September 16, 1962, the striker made his first division debut in a 1-1 draw against Bayer 04 Leverkusen . Unlike the later Bundesliga professional Gecks, Hagenacker was then no longer considered in the league team. Nevertheless, through his only assignment, he was part of a team that finished third in the table at the end of the season and was thus included among the 16 founding members of the Bundesliga.
