The 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch 1910 e. V. was a sports club from Delitzsch .
Athletic career
The club became known beyond the city limits through its men's handball team, which played in the 1st Bundesliga in the 2005/06 season .
The association was originally founded in 1910. After the re-establishment of the on April 6, 1994, which emerged from the handball department of ESV Delitzsch, the first men's team rose in the 1995/96 season as Saxony champions with 52-0 points in the regional league . In 1997/98 the team finally rose to the 2nd handball Bundesliga , before the biggest success in the club's history was achieved with promotion to the top German division in 2004/05. In the top division, however, the competition turned out to be too strong, so that the club immediately had to relegate bottom of the table. Since the 2006/2007 season Concordia played in the second handball Bundesliga south.
In May 2010, the SV Concordia Delitzsch should not receive the license for the 2010/11 season in the 2nd Bundesliga South due to financial inadequacies. After several improvements to the budget, the game operating company CSG received the license with certain conditions. On July 19, 2010, the Spielbetriebsgesellschaft filed for bankruptcy at the Leipzig District Court . Despite the bankruptcy of the operating company, the first men's team should continue to compete in the second division; the licensing commission of the handball Bundesliga decided in August 2010 to withdraw the license to participate in the games of the second handball Bundesliga (north) after the 2010/2011 season from the 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch. The club was also fined 10,000 euros imposed. On August 19, 2010, however, the club announced that it would waive the right to start in the 2nd division and compete in the Saxony League in the 2010/2011 season. In September the Saxon handball association announced that the previously founded handball club NHV Concordia Delitzsch 2010 e. V. received the playing rights for all Saxon handball leagues in which the 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch 1910 teams were active before. The club finished the season in the Sachsenliga last.
After the Leipzig District Court opened insolvency proceedings on December 28, 2010, 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch was dissolved.
Venues
The home venue was the Artur Becker sports hall in Delitzsch. Up until the 2004/05 season, the club played its 1st team games in the Delitzsch culture and sports center. For the 2005/06 round and with promotion to the 1st handball league, the first team moved to the Leipzig Arena for the home games , but after relegation and a lack of audience response returned to their ancestral regions after a year; from the 2010/2011 season onwards, all teams will play in the Artur-Becker-Halle.
