Lars Kaufmann (born February 25, 1982 in Görlitz ) is a former German handball player . The 1.99 m tall left backcourt player became world champion with the German national team in 2007 . His extremely hard throws (up to 130 km / h) earned him the nickname " Lucky Luke " at HSG Wetzlar .

Career

society

Lars Kaufmann started playing handball at SV Koweg Görlitz. In 1999 he moved to 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch . Here he was the top scorer in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2003/04 and 2004/05 seasons. With his goals, he played a large part in Delitzsch's promotion to the Bundesliga. From 2005 he played for the HSG Wetzlar. From summer 2007 he played for two years at TBV Lemgo . In the summer of 2009, Kaufmann moved to league rival Frisch Auf Göppingen , with whom he won the EHF Cup in 2011 . After two years in Göppingen, he played for SG Flensburg-Handewitt from the 2011/12 season . He won the European Cup Winners' Cup with Flensburg in 2012 . Due to a knee injury, Kaufmann missed the entire 2013/14 season , in which Flensburg reached the final of the DHB Cup and won the EHF Champions League . In 2015 he won the DHB Cup with SG. After the 2014/15 season he returned to Frisch Auf Göppingen. With Göppingen he won the EHF Cup in 2016 and 2017. Lars Kaufmann ended his active handball career after the 2016/17 season.

National team

On January 4, 2003, he made his international debut against the Hungarian national team in Stuttgart . He was a member of the German national team at the 2007 World Cup and celebrated the world championship with them on February 4, 2007 with a final victory over Poland. For this triumph he was awarded the silver bay leaf .

At the European Championship in 2008 he reached 4th place with the DHB team. However, he did not have enough time and even had to play as a circle player in the small final . On January 28, 2008, however, he was temporarily thrown out of the squad by Heiner Brand because he was not satisfied with Kaufmann's performance. With some good performances in the Bundesliga he was able to play his way back into the team. At the 2009 World Cup in Croatia , Kaufmann was back in the national team.

Private

Lars Kaufmann studied business administration alongside handball and lives in Glücksburg .
