Heiko Bonath

Heiko Bonath (born April 1, 1961 ) is a German handball player and coach .

Bonath played for SC Dynamo Berlin , from 1991 to 1994 at TBV Lemgo , then at TuS Jöllenbeck and from 1997 back at TBV Lemgo.

Heiko Bonath played in the squad of the GDR men's national handball team at the 1986 World Cup , where he finished third with his team, and at the 1990 World Cup . He was a member of the national team a total of 80 times. In 1984 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold.

After his professional career, Bonath became a handball coach. From 1999 to 2003 he coached the HSG Augustdorf / Hövelhof team .

His son Rico Bonath is also a handball player.
