The TSB Heilbronn-Horkheim ( TSB Horkheim , Turn- und Sängerbund Horkheim ) is a handball club in the Heilbronn district of Horkheim .

history

The handball club TSB Heilbronn-Horkheim is the sporting most successful branch of the overall club TSB Horkheim .

The club was founded in 1931 as the handball department of the then gymnastics club. In the absence of a suitable playground, the Tuchbleich , a laundry drying area, initially served as a training area. The young club played its first friendly matches on the square of the neighboring TV Sontheim. In 1932 the members of the association created their own playground in Horkheim. As early as the 1933/34 season, the team rose to district class I. In 1938/39 the team just missed promotion to the district league.

After the Second World War, the first team rose to the district league in 1948/49, while the A-youth reached the finals of the Württemberg championship. In 1950/51, the team rose to the state league, while the A-youth was two times Wuerttemberg runner-up in the 1950s. In 1962, the former national player Werner Gölkel was hired as a coach. Under his leadership, the team became Wuerttemberg field handball champions and rose to the southern German league. The then goalscorer Herbert Hönnige was appointed to the national team, but then moved to SG Leutershausen. Coach Gölkel also said goodbye in 1965 to the team that could not defend their place in the top division.

In the early 1970s, efforts were made to improve the performance of the relapsed club. The measures taken included a. the demolition of three old farmsteads in Horkheim by members of the association to enable the team to travel to Tunisia to promote camaraderie. In 1971 the club received a new sports facility from the municipality of Horkheim. After the incorporation of Horkheim into Heilbronn, the weir hall was also completed in 1975, where training operations would take place in the future.

In the 1992/93 season , TSB's 1st men's team was promoted to what was then the southern season of the 2nd handball league , but the team was unable to keep the class and played again in the Regional League South or in the Oberliga Baden in the following years -Wuerttemberg . In the 2007/08 season they were promoted to the Regionalliga Süd, and in the 2009/10 season the TSB qualified as runner-up for the new 3rd division . In the following season 2010/11 the TSB was runner-up in the 3rd division and was HVW Cup winner.

The greatest successes in youth were celebrated in the 2014/2015 season. The male A youth won the Württemberg championship and won the final of the Baden-Württemberg Cup. The coaches of the championship team were Jochen Lombacher and Dieter Kachelmuss. The team received an award from the city of Heilbronn for their performance.

In the following 2015/2016 season, the next class successfully qualified for the Youth Bundesliga South. There the 6th place was achieved under the coaching duo Peter Baumann and Freddy Griesbach.
