Greatest successes:

The TVG Großsachsen ( Turnverein Germania Großsachsen ) is a sports club in Großsachsen , a district of the northern Baden municipality of Hirschberg on Bergstrasse ; it is just before the SG Leutershausen the largest sports club in Hirschberg. The association was founded in 1890.

In the competitive sports sector, the TVG has become known nationwide through its success in ring tennis and handball . Of the 1300 members, around 450 take advantage of the handball department's offers (as of 2011).

Handball

The first men's team of the TVG Großsachsen is currently playing (as of the 2017/18 season ) in the eastern relay of the 3rd division .

The handball department was founded in 1930. After many years of membership in the Baden League (since the 1981/82 season), the men's team of the TVG rose in 2005 as Baden League champions in the fourth-class Baden-Württemberg Oberliga (BWOL) . The team held up well there for several years, until in 2010 they celebrated their greatest success to date with the championship in the BWOL and promotion to the 3rd division. The class could not be held and at the end of the 2010/11 season , Greater Saxony had to relegate back to the BWOL. Directly in the following year, however, the championship and thus the promotion succeeded there again, so that the club was able to compete in the third division again since the 2012/13 season . The team's coach is Stefan Pohl (as of 2017).

Ring tennis

The club was particularly successful in ring tennis in the 1960s and 1970s, took part in the ring tennis Bundesliga and provided successful individual players: In 1965, the German ring tennis championship in men's singles was celebrated for the first time, as well as the German ring tennis championship in mixed, the At the same time, women became runner-up in the women's doubles. In the following two years, 1966 and 1967, the women became German ring tennis champions, each in the women’s singles and doubles. In 1975 the men were again the German ring tennis champions, in the men's singles and in the men's doubles.
