3rd League (handball) 2010/11
The 2010/2011 season of the 3rd division in men's handball was the first in its history. 61 teams played in four seasons for the North, East, South and West German championships as well as qualification for the 2nd Bundesliga .
Due to the amalgamation of the two 2nd national leagues for the 2011/2012 season, there was a separate promotion and relegation regulation in the first season of the 3rd league. The four season winners played with the table tenth of the seasons North and South of the 2nd Bundesliga two participants in the single-track 2nd Bundesliga, while the four losers of this relegation and the 16 relegated teams from the 2nd Bundesliga started in the 3rd division. The teams in places 10-15 and 10-16 were relegated to the major leagues. As usual, twelve teams rose from the major leagues. Since the 1. SV Concordia Delitzsch had already given up their right to start in the 2nd Bundesliga before the season and started in the Sachsenliga, there were only 15 direct relegations from the 2nd Bundesliga. The vacated starting place in the 3rd league 2011/12 was played out by relegating the table tenth of the four seasons.

The HSG Tarp-Wanderup is tied with the HF jumping champions because it won the direct comparison with the club from Springe. HSV Peenetal Loitz declared that they would definitely only want to compete in the fourth-highest division from 2011 and therefore did not play a relegation.
