The HSG Ahlen-Hamm was a handball community made up of the ASV Hamm and Ahlener SG clubs . The team started in the 2010/2011 season with the right to start as a sporting climber from the second handball Bundesliga north - ASV Hamm -in the 1st Bundesliga .

history

Both Ahlener SG and ASV Hamm have been taking part in the 2nd handball league for several years, both clubs aiming to belong to the 1st Bundesliga . The ASV Hamm achieved promotion to the 1st Bundesliga in the 2009/2010 season. Before the 2010/2011 season, ASV Hamm and Ahlener SG formed the handball community Ahlen-Hamm, which exercised the right to play in the 2010/2011 season. Both clubs stated that the spatial proximity and the resulting competition in youth work and sponsorship acquisition had prompted them to bring about this cooperation between the two Westphalian clubs.

The HSG played the first team's games in the Maxipark Arena in Hamm . In Ahlen , the HSG youngsters played in the 3rd division. The HSG missed the self-imposed season goal of sporting relegation and was relegated to the second handball league.

Even during the current season there were financial disagreements, which finally forced tough austerity measures at the beginning of 2011 in order to be able to complete the season at all.

On June 29, 2011, the HSG announced the separation. While ASV Hamm competed in the new, single-track second division as ASV Hamm-Westfalen, Ahlener SG played in the third division and has taken over the license for the youngsters.

Squad

The first trainer at HSG Ahlen-Hamm was Jens Pfänder . He was released on October 27, 2010. Initially, the promotion coach of ASV Hamm, Kay Rothenpieler , who was to lead the team for the next two games, took over temporarily . After the two games, Kay Rothenpieler was asked by the team to continue. After consulting with manager Franz Dressel, he decided to remain in office. Kay Rothenpieler filled the office of trainer and manager in the 2010/2011 season. At the end of the season he gave up his coaching position and will only work as a full-time sports director in order to secure professional handball in Hamm in the long term.
