Einar Friðrik Hólmgeirsson (born March 29, 1982 in Sauðárkrókur , Iceland ) is an Icelandic handball player. He plays in Iceland with Stjarnan.

Career

Einar Hólmgeirsson

Einar is 1.90 m long and weighs 100 kg. The left-hander plays on the right back position . Einar is known for his extremely hard, almost seamlessly executed throws. For the Icelandic national handball team he has played 78 international matches so far, in which he scored 228 goals. In July 2007 he moved from TV Großwallstadt to SG Flensburg-Handewitt. However, he did not convince the Fördestädtern; In summer 2008 he returned to TV Großwallstadt. In the 2010/11 season he played for HSG Ahlen-Hamm, newly promoted to the Bundesliga . After Einar did not receive a contract due to a knee injury, he was finally signed in March 2012 by SC Magdeburg until the end of the 2011/12 season. He has been playing for Stjarnan since summer 2013.
