Björn Wiegers (born March 15, 1982 in Ahlen ) is a German handball player who has played in the 2nd handball league for ASV Hamm-Westphalia since 2010 .

Career

Björn Wiegers has been a member of the youth teams at Ahlener SG since he was eleven. He switched to the seniors and became the crowd favorite of the team in the 2nd Bundesliga.

In 2010 he signed his first contract as a full professional with HSG Ahlen-Hamm .

After relegation and the dissolution of the game association in 2011, he belongs to the second division squad of ASV Hamm-Westphalia. At the end of the 2012 season, the prospective German teacher surprisingly extended his contract with ASV Hamm for another year.

Wiegers and his partner Tessa Cocx , who is also a professional handball player, separated at the end of 2012.

On March 14, 2013 ASV Hamm-Westfalen announced that Wiegers had extended his contract by two more years until summer 2015. As of the 2015/16 season, Wiegers would like to take a little less time to play handball and invest more time in his young family and a job after handball. For this purpose, the native of Ahlen is going back to his youth club Ahlener SG, where he will play together with his brother Kevin Wiegers in the upper league.

Oddities

Björn Wiegers' supporters always support him in the hall with regard to his appearance with a blonde wig and black headband.
