Parliamentary election in Estonia 1992
The parliamentary elections in Estonia in 1992 took place on Sunday, September 20, 1992. It was the election of the 7th Riigikogu of the Republic of Estonia and at the same time the first free parliamentary election that took place in Estonia, which has been independent since 1991.
Electoral system
There are 101 seats in the Estonian Parliament for a legislature dominated by three years. A five percent threshold was applied to the approved parties . The election was based on proportional representation .
Election result
The “ Fatherland ” block was the winner . He got 22.0 percent of the vote and got 29 seats in parliament. The “Safe Home” block landed in second place with 13.6 percent. The third strongest force was the “ Popular Front ” bloc with 12.3 percent.
